Gamers’ Briefing
(Japanese)
The situation has become increasingly desperate, Australian
artillery has smashed most of our defenses and due to
tortuous supply lines and allied bombing we are practically
out of food and ammunition. It is clear the enemy is now
preparing to counter attack up the track. Our orders and
duty are clear, we must resist to the last man and last
bullet. Capture or retreat are not options, it’s a matter of
duty and honor. Our company has prepared 3 strong points
along the trail, due to careful placement of these positions
the enemy will need to take them in order to break through.
The first strong point is critical to the defense as the
narrow pass will afford no flanking opportunity to the
enemy. It is vital the Australians are largely destroyed
including their reserves at strong point 1. Unfortunately
our machine guns are perilously low on ammunition; each is
assigned a single belt of ammunition. Each 5 man fire team
has been assigned a machine gun, everyone else has automatic
pistols and type 99 bolt action rifles.

Gamers’
Briefing (Australians)
The Australian shelling has been smashing the Japanese defenses and
now its time for aggressive counter attacks to drive back and
destroy the Japs. Despite sickness and hunger, the enemy is still
formidable and can be expected to tenaciously defend every strong
point along the track. Our orders are to advance directly up the
track to frontally assault the first Japanese strong point before
simultaneously assaulting and flanking the second strong point
before finally assaulting the third and final strong point. Due to
impassable terrain, until strong point 1 is taken, you can only
spread out 20 meters either side of the track so there is no option
except to frontally assault the enemy. The advance against
entrenched enemy in a frontal attack is almost suicidal, but we are
confident that you men will do your duty. Limited company reserves
are available to support your attack if required. Fortunately we
have been issued the latest Austen SMG’s and each 5 man fire team is
issued with a Bren light machine gun. Long range battle and sniper
rifles are also available as needed.
