Teams from around Australia
converged on the Gatton Football Complex to find out who was the best of the
best at the 2007 Australian National Clan War, live gaming
tournament. ‘7th
Death’ a live gaming clan from Melbourne trounced the seven other
clans and shot straight into the finals.
In fact, '7th Death' won every game they played before the reaching
the final, including convincingly defeating Legion of Felix twice.
"We didn't do as well as we would have liked early in the day," said
Canditta Anderson, the clan's Captain who is codenamed ‘Angel’, "but
we really stepped up for the final series."
Battlefield LIVE gives the gamer a chance to experience command, control, and
sighting, while exercising their body. Opponents are never entirely
sure what will challenge their clan next, increasing the tension and
fun.
Vying for a position in the finals series ‘Legion of Felix’ had to
battle with a rival Brisbane clan. With a win, a tie, and a win,
‘Legion of Felix’ defeated 'Trigger Happy' for the right to face off
against ‘7th Death’.
The final series was the best of three games so the pressure was
massive.
The first game of the finals was an elimination death match. A
‘death match’ is where one team shoots the other, and tries not to
shoot their clan, but friendly fire is possible in this game.
‘Legion of Felix’ played it tight and came out victorious.
Surprisingly ‘7th Death’ chose to rest one of their key players in
this crucial match. This resulted in a big win for ‘Legion of
Felix’; a costly decision.
Needing a tie or a win to take the tournament, ‘Legion of Felix’
played conservatively for the second game, which was a bulldog
match. ‘Bulldog’ is where points are allocated for gamers to cross
the opposition’s base-line. They focused on keeping a couple of
gamers alive by the end of the round. The tactic worked and ‘Legion
of Felix’ came out on top.
The last game was the famous capture the flag, a crowd favorite. The
‘Capture the Flag’ mission is where the clan must assault a central
area, gain possession of the flag and extract on the opposite side
of the field.
Despite ‘7th Death’ winning this final game, with a decisive wins in
the first two finals rounds, ‘Legion of Felix’ were so far out in
front that the last game result was mute.
The national tournament ended fittingly with Angel being the
last-woman standing of the entire competition. Winning live gaming
competitions at the national’s level takes skills, dedication, and
the right equipment.
